What’s the comparison? As expected Phil decided to exclude himself from the Grand Slam. The question is why? Only possible reason is that he takes it too lightly. or maybe, he won his majors at a time when Tiger was busy getting his tigress or busing taking the oath for Tiger “king of the jungle” status(no pun intended). But let’s look at it more objectively. He has since his so-called “tiger slump” period to change his swing, his lifestlye and his new objectives in life. Whilst, Phil has been moving towards the distiction of being “Major Phil”. He cancels tournaments near to any majors to focus on winning all four. Maybe that’s because those “other” tournaments are termed non-essentials. But what has it got him thus far. When he’s back, he’s back. Can Phil turn it on to face Tiger head-on. We’ve seen Ernie, Vijay, Retief, Jim and Colin(maybe not) all try their best to dislodge him. Closest we’ve seen is from Vijay. Ernie showed signs until he broke his knee (spirits). Maybe its meant to be that only a new unknown “phenom” can best dislogde him. As for Phil, stop your fake smile. We understand your situation/sufering.
