Best golf courses in Asia

Olaf just read a post in the Asian Golf Monthly. And it reads:

THAILAND – 1st CHOICE ASIAN DESTINATION FOR GOLFERS

  • Best Golf Destination in Asia – Thailand
  • Best Clubhouse in Asia – Thai Country Club
  • Best New Course in Asia – Amata Spring Country Club

Being a Malaysian golfer and golfed in Thailand, I am not at all surprised that Thailand has been voted tops. But what about Malaysian Golf Courses. What I can say is Malaysian courses are designed and maintained at a level I believe, is on par or even sometimes better than the ones we find in Thailand. But why is everyone voting in Thailand. Here are some of the reason why:

A small miracle

Olaf just read the news and it was reported that a 102-year old lady golfer by the name of Elsie McLean just recorded a hole in one. I wonder how many of us golfers have ever hit a hole in one. Even witnessing a hole in one is no small feat. According to the press, Elsie thought she might have lost her ball on the par-3, 100-yard fourth hole and her playing partners found the ball in the cup. She was attempting to hit the green with a driver! Shows you how healthy the game of golf is.

Journey to the greens of PGA—Final Part

Through part one, part two and part three of the interview, we have grown to know a lot more of Calvin. And now, the final parter….

Olaf: Who in this planet right now is your favorite golfer?
Calvin: Without a doubt Tiger Woods

Olaf: And your fantasy foursome?
Calvin: Tiger Woods, Ernie Els and Fred Couples.

Olaf: Your favorite golfer has started a foundation called Tiger Foundation? It has influenced a great number of youngsters in the US. Do you think this has also generated a great interest in Asia, overall?
Calvin: Yes, most definitely. The possibilities are endless now with his move.

Journey to the greens of PGA—Part III

In the previous part one and part two, Calvin has given his thoughts on the Malaysian and Asian Golf Tour. The saga now continues…..

Olaf: How do you rate Malaysian Golf Courses on a scale of 1 (best) to 5 (worst)?
Calvin: Definitely in the 2nd category.

Olaf: Which 3 courses do you think are in the top three?
Calvin: The Saujana, Kota Permai and The Mines (All three courses have been hosting major golf events in Malaysia for quite a while now).
