A Tribute to Grandmaster Choo
January 20th, 2009 by Olaf Bound.sIt seems kinda funny to write about your average golfer who happens to be a golfing buddy of mine. But my posts have never suited the norm anyway. “A great golfer is grandmaster Choo” remarked a friend of mine. Mind you, he is a real beginner at golf and sharing a round with him for a seasoned golfer is not easy to digest. The frequent tops and fats, the one ball lost per hole can really affect your game. But does it affect the grand master? The answer is no. He happily goes along, trying his utmost best to locate the wayward shot. Pinpointing with extreme accuracy of the place where the ball landed. His remark, “It’s between the 4th tree on the right where the hazard marker is”. And true enough, you will see it there.
The patience and exuberance of his love for the game is befitting his status. This post is not only about the grandmaster himself but the acknowledgement of the “gentlemen” that plays the game in its’ truest form. Whilst, not everyone can afford to smell the flowers every round you play. The game of golf is after all a “game”. And to enjoy it, one must learn to appreciate that the game itself. Playing golf with him has helped Golfnick appreciate the game more than I can recall. His philosophy is simple, “learn to appreciate and be happy that you can still play a round”. His ability to have fun on the course and take every shot as it comes is akin to his lifestyle. Many a time, have I witness the tantrums of his playing partners (myself included) but always is that kind reassuring style of his to clam us down!
How I wish all my golfing buddies were the same! With true appreciation of all of us golfing buddies who have golfed with you, you truly are a grandmaster of the game. It is not the score that matters in every round that you play but the simplicity of sharing a round of golf with you. Not every golfer can share the love of the game as much as you do! Whilst every golfer curses at the wayward shot that happens all too often to us, you have never shown your temper to thrown it to any of your golfing partners. Mind you, the grandmaster holds a handicap of 24 after nearly 8 years of golfing. But does it stop his enjoyment of a Sunday round; the answer is a great big “no”. By the way, if you happen to see this man on the course….please tip your hat and recognize the swing…..
You are one very special golfer!!!
By the way, the shot ended up 4 feet from the pin!!

Your friend grandmaster Choo is an average golf player. So what? Remember even great players like Tiger Woods were average when they started playing game. Your friend has the qualities of a great golfer. Believe me, one day he will become a professional golfer.
black golf gloves, February 5th, 2009 at 3:57 pmIt is definitely not his intention to be a professional golfer. But that is the point itself, he just enjoys his golf. The same as 95% of us golfers out there!!
Happy Golfing
