Phil Mickelson does it at The Players

No wonder Golfnick gave this man the top marks at our recent post as the man to challenge Tiger Woods for his No. 1 spot. His short game was tremendous! Phil had made shots out of nowhere even he was staring at big numbers. His scrambling ability was nothing short of miraculous. And the most apparent improvement came from his once suspect long game (especially his driver). I wonder who is laughing louder, Phil or Butch Harmon (his new swing coach). Can we credit at least 30% of this success to Butch? This man has already proven his worth with (who else!) Tiger, Olazabal, Adam Scott and former great Greg Norman. But let’s not take the full credit away from Phil, who has been knocking at the door for too many a year now.

What’s in my Bag?

After the driving range meet, I thought it would be nice to share some information on Olaf. I hope it could maybe help my fellow beginners and to share with you all, the equipment that I use and how you can use it as a reference point to choose the gear for yourselves.

Here it comes, Olaf’s equipment:

Phil Mickelson at Byron Nelson Championship

Phil is creating a lot of news this past couple of weeks. First the announcement that he is ditching long time swing coach Rick Smith for Butch Harmon was a big surprise. With all the eyes on his new swing to be revealed in the Byron Nelson, he’s in the news for the wrong reasons.

According to reports, he didn’t turn up for the PRO-AM mandatory event on Wednesday. For those not in the know, if you don’t turn out for the PRO-AM events you don’t play! Ask Retief Goosen, he was late by 10mins and was disqualified for the 2005 Nissan Open. Is the USPGA practicing double standards?

Let’s help Tiger name his soon to be newborn

Looks like Tiger Woods and Elin will be expecting an addition to the Woods family. I’m sure the beautiful baby will need a new name. So, let’s see if Golfnick can help out!

Some interesting names to choose from:

Phil Mickelson’s swing coach is now Butch Harmon

Phil Mickelson teeing offPhil Mickelson after suffering for a long time with his erratic shots, a swing change was long overdue but he has now finally switched alliance to Tiger Wood’s former swing coach, Butch Harmon. Is this rad or not? Tiger Woods changed his swing coach in 2002 to ask for a more consistent swing, he went to Hank Haney. Butch is considered one of the top ten coaches in the world

But will it happen for Phil?

Tiger Woods is the No 1 golfer in the world

Wood's perfect swing on 16th teeTiger is the no. 1 golfer. Ask the press! Ask the golfers! Ask his contemporaries! Ask his fellow peers! Heck asks anybody, they’ll tell you he is the best. But remember three years ago; when many wrote him off due to his “mini” slump. Now, everyone is jumping on to the band wagon. But realistically, where are the other contenders? Remember the Arnold Palmer vs. Jack Nicklaus vs. Gary Player vs. Lee Trevino, Nick Faldo vs. Greg Norman vs. Nick Price. Tiger seems to be on a league of his own. But let’s look at a few guys who might actually give him a good fight for 2007!

Golfest Kuala Lumpur 2007

Golfnick recently spent a few hours during the weekend to visit this once a year affair held in the Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club. The 3-day event organized by the club from the 13th to 15th April 2007 certainly lived up to its expectations. There were plenty of good bargains and almost every major brand was holding their positions in the driving range bays to explore and show off their newest products. Among the participating brands like Taylormade, Nike, Callaway, Cleveland, PING, ORLIMAR, Srixon and plenty of others were there for Olaf to try their latest products.Kuala Lumpur Golf & Country Club
