Phil Mickelson does it at The Players

May 15th, 2007 by Olaf Bound.s

No wonder Golfnick gave this man the top marks at our recent post as the man to challenge Tiger Woods for his No. 1 spot. His short game was tremendous! Phil had made shots out of nowhere even he was staring at big numbers. His scrambling ability was nothing short of miraculous. And the most apparent improvement came from his once suspect long game (especially his driver). I wonder who is laughing louder, Phil or Butch Harmon (his new swing coach). Can we credit at least 30% of this success to Butch? This man has already proven his worth with (who else!) Tiger, Olazabal, Adam Scott and former great Greg Norman. But let’s not take the full credit away from Phil, who has been knocking at the door for too many a year now.

Driving Range meet

May 10th, 2007 by Olaf Bound.s

My dear friends and readers, I am proposing that we meet up again this Saturday 12th May 2007. Venue will be the Bukit Jalil driving Range. Time: 3.00pm. For some additional news, Olaf’s Grand Master will be joining us for the meet. Take this opportunity to see this wise man who may hold a 24-handicap but is always ready to play. Just for the love of the game!

For those who will be joining us for the first time, you will not need to bring anything but just dress in a shirt, shorts, socks and a pair of trainers. If you happen to have a club with you, bring it along! If you have other things such as gloves and the likes, please feel free to bring them.

What’s in my Bag?

After the driving range meet, I thought it would be nice to share some information on Olaf. I hope it could maybe help my fellow beginners and to share with you all, the equipment that I use and how you can use it as a reference point to choose the gear for yourselves.

Here it comes, Olaf’s equipment:

A Beginners’ Guide to Golf — the glove

May 8th, 2007 by Olaf Bound.s

Continuing from the last installment of the series A Beginners’ Guide to Golf, let’s look a few things that you will need in order to start playing the game. As always as your pro will tell you is to get a pair of gloves. And there are a few for you to shop for! And please don’t borrow or nick somebody’s old gloves. For one, gloves come in sizes. And if you are a right handed person, you buy a left hand glove and vice versa for the left hander.

First Driving Range Blog Meet

May 6th, 2007 by Site Admin

Olaf and a bunch of bloggers had a rather unique blog meet yesterday at the Bukit Jalil Golf and Country Club driving range. As far as we can tell, it is a first. The turn out was small with a mixed of newbies and golfers with a few years of experience but we had lots of fun and laughter helping each other improve on our golf swing. Between the 7 of us, we managed to hit 1,000 balls and collected a few backaches.

It was such a blast that we have already started planning for another session. Stay tuned to Golfnick for the announcement.

Thanks goes to Wingz, Kenny Ng, Dale, CKYEO and PennyPupz for attending our driving range blog meet, especially to Wingz for coordinating the event and spreading the word.

Now for some photos:

Golfing with Golfnick

May 3rd, 2007 by Olaf Bound.s

This coming Saturday (May 5th, 2007), we are going to have a fun gathering at the driving range. Olaf wants to invite anyone who is going to be in the vicinity of Kelang Valley, Malaysia to join us for a driving range meet this coming Saturday. Those interested please drop a note to Wingz (rojaks.wingz[at]gmail.com) the coordinator. Details of the meet can be found here.

Golfnick would also like to thank Wingz for helping us spread the word. His reach with his Rojaks Daily is going to be much better than what GolfNick could achieve in a few months.

A Beginners’ Guide to Golf

April 29th, 2007 by Olaf Bound.s

Olaf was recently asked a question and would like to share this view with all my viewers out there. Why did you pick up golf? I couldn’t actually answer the question because as far as I can remember, I recalled a certain person by the name of Jack Nicklaus. I watched one of his instructional video and was instantly hooked. But it comes to no surprise that a lot of my friends are eager to take up the sport but have no idea where to start. So, the question is not why we would like to pick up golf but HOW do we start to play this game called “GOLF”?
