Television golf : US Masters vs British Masters

May 20th, 2006 by Olaf Bound.s

Ever notice how much relevance there is in watching both golf tournaments. Wow, what an interest the British MASTERS generate. Frankly, I wonder how many of you out there actually bother watching the European Golf Tournaments. I mean like actual watching not flipping through the channels every 20 seconds (I timed myself). Believe me, watching a tournament like this takes a lot of persistence and determination. Don’t get me wrong, personally I think the commentators try like hell to make it interesting but……. Take the US PGA Tournaments; they actually feed you everything about the golfer they focus on. It goes something like this, Commentator focuses on Jim Furyk goes…. Jim Furyk has been taught by his dad since he was 9 years old… (next guy goes)… Well Tiger started as a early as 4 years AND blah blah… (Camera moves to next shot)… Next time I’ll remember to take up golf as soon as I can hold something or my next generation does. But look at it this, I think most golfers out won’t have any real desire to who or what his dad has done to brainwash him. Here are actually some of the things we would like to hear from the commentators;

  1. What’s in his bag? We all want to know what iron he was playing including the brand he is using. I could hit it if I had his club…..
  2. What is he wearing? Man, he looks good in it. Actually, if I play two more rounds every week, I bet I could look good in that. (FAT CHANCE!!!)
  3. What ball is he using? Probably, something I can pick up when I choose my second hand balls. Probably spin it backwards on the green…. (Dream on, man)

You see, golf watching is an art. And I can tell you, they tell me IT is much better than going to the course to watch it. Oh Great!!! So are they trying real HARD? I can’t believe that people actually stay up until 4am to watch it live!!! No way, I would rather watch the 50th rerun of TERMINATOR I, II & III. So I will not watch any more boring silly golf tournaments, just tell me who won tomorrow. By the way, when’s the US Open. This is one that I won’t miss and maybe the PGA Championship and British Open and ……………
